Just bought a 16 ft fiberglass Monark skiff. There are some cracks in the floor and in those spots it is raised. Took out a little of the cracked spot and its all wet there. Wanted to repair it. Any suggestions? How can I get it dry? I was told its foam filled, seems more like water filled. Will the new glass stick if its a little wet? What kind off stuff do I use? Saw plexiglass can work instead of wood. Really??

thanks in advance

Re: Fiberglass Floor Question for repair

Welcome to iBoats.

Sorry to have to be the one to tell you but you are going to have to tear out the entire floor, remove ALL of the Foam that is wet and saturated.
Do a search for Replacing the floor or deck. You will find lots of posts. You won't believe how much WEIGHT it has added to the boat. Your superstructure(stringers) will no doubt be rotted and they will need to be replaced as well. While you're at it you need to check your Transom(Thats the entire Back Panel of the Boat where the motor is) It could have serious issues as well if you have had water below decks. It is a LOT of work but if you do it and do it right you will have a boat that will last for years. There is plenty of help on this site so if you have the time, MONEY, and motivation to "Git er Dun" then go buy some tools and some BEER and Get Started !!!
