I have a nice Wellcraft 1986 26aft cabin-
got the boat several mos. ago and have just now pulled the floor acces and see a fiberglass tank. under the cabin floor. There are other post here saying Wellcraft used PLASTIC TANKS-never fiberglass anyone know?
.Has anybody replaced one???
The cabin has a slight gas odor after setting up a couple days. I always run the blower 4 min and pull up the hatch for a sniff before starting
.As I said earlier- the boat is in great condition and was repowerd in '96 with 454Mercrusier with bravo3 drive.:D Has genset/ HVAC, hotwater heater- elect anchor winch and a good galvinized roller trl- This is my 1st post and from what I have read elsewhere I'm gonna have to replace the tank if it is FIBERGLASS soon. latter.

Re: fiberglass gas tank???

Owner's manual says it is a " aluminum baffled tank" YEEWWWH!!:)
I had a firing miss @2500rpm and was thinking the carb was the problem as I had a strong gas odor. So I ran 2 tanks with carb & tank conditioner thru and also sprayed 1/2 a can of carb cleaner in her with no improvements. I took the marina mechanic for a ride and imediately said it was a non firing plug. Had him pull and clean distriutor and check spark plug wires( all good) and install new plugs. Runs like a champ now. It ran 43MPH on GPS WOT. I usually cruise at 3200RPM at 26MPH. Surely not fast for some but it works for me.My pick up trk pulls it well except up the ramp :(2wheel drive. Have not gotten stuck but for a few minutes.
