Fiberglass grinding

I don't have any experience working with fiberglass, but have been trying to educate myself by reading the posts here. It seems that the most tedious and time consuming part of a restoration is the grinding of the existing glass in preparation for new stringers, deck, transom.

Has anyone ever tried sandblasting? Would this work? Maybe not with sand, but a specialized blasting media. Sorry if this is a dumb question, just thinking it might save a lot of time and effort.

I have no idea if sand blasting will work, but I didn't think grinding was so bad. I think it's all in how you look at.it!

Sandblasting would clean the surface but will not remove the old glass that is built up....sorry but you'll just have to get a bunch of 36 grit flapper discs and an angle grinder and have at it.... necessary evil my friend ;)
