Fiberglass Painting *Newbie*

I know there are alot of topics on this but didnt really know if they applied to my situation. I just bought a 74' 16ft fiberglass Riveria and wanted to paint it. I just dont know what the steps are on painting it. Can you just start sanding the fiberglass after you clean it and then primer and paint? Can you put the boat on blocks and paint it? Any help would be greatful... Thanks -Brian
