Fiberglass repair kit

Hi, Newbie here...

Have a gouge on hull in the gelcoat area (not the white hull section) and Marine Tex was reccomended. Let me know your thoughts

well, I can begin to see some of the "strands" under the gel coat. The gouge is probably less than 1/4 inch in width and about 2 inches long.

i have a 10 foot john boat and me and my dad usually just slap some epoxy and fiberglass sheets. but im not sure what you would need just trying to give some input
