Fiberglass splinters in my 81 sear gamefisher trihull

I bought a 1981 14 ft Sears Gamefisher trihull a couple weeks ago and after cleaning out the boat from all the debris that was in it I noticed fiberglass splinters on my clothes and skin. The boat is in excellent shape other than the fibers getting on myself and my clothes. Should I paint over it with marine paint? I want to be able to go fishing with my buddies without itching the whole time. What is the best way to take care of this problem? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

You could paint it or even mix up a thin mix of epoxy and put on as a cover coat. I hate fiberglass itch.

Is there a marine paint for fiberglass that anyone can recommend?

Virtually every marine paint made works on fiberglass, so there's no issue there.

Do a search here on "gamefisher" and you'll see some finished projects.

I would put a thin coat of resin first. Then just get a quart of some Interlux? Fiberglass Paint.

just lightly sand and paint w/marine grade paint.i did a project one of these boats @10yrs ago.sold it this year and fished all years between.best little boats out there.stable,roomy,solid.had it on big lakes,little lakes and everything in between.one word of advice,though.if more than you are in boat,a 9.9hp will not plane it out!its heavy.25hp is perfect.i had plenty of 10hp limit lakes in my area,so i had a 9.8nissan on it.worked,but two people=pushing alot of water w/this tri hull design.
