Well I've got one crazy problem! I pulled my carpet up on my boats floor and I noticed fiberglass meshing attached to the plywood. I started pulling it up in the back and I have gotten to a very thick area and can't seem to get it off any advice would be great.

I have to assume that mesh you're describing is woven roving... and just out of curiosity, why are you pulling it up?

As for advice... my advise would be to cut through it with a circular saw or grinder with a cutting disk.

Re: Fiberglass?!?!

the mesh in the back of the boat was pealing up. Well, I'm just wondering should I continue to keep pulling the front up.

If you've started, you might as well finish. Walking on an uneven floor won't feel right no matter how thick the new carpet is.

One tool you might find usefull is a floor scraper (used to remove carpet glue before laying new glue/carpet).

Re: Fiberglass?!?!

its normal....

the fiberglass mesh......prob cloth. is supposed to be there....
it stops the floor from rotting out and adds some structural stability to the boat.

i suspect you mean that you cannot pull up the carpet......its tough....keep ripping......

if you cant get it all off....cut the carpet...and take a grinder to the glue holding the tough spot.....you may also wanna try acetone......but dont let the acetone sit on the fiberglass resin too long.

if you pull up any fiberglass....it must be replaced.....or the floor will rot.

cheers
