Re: ficht hole shot

Glen,
You said that you had voltage going to injectors. But the only true way to test those is to connect with laptop, take injector out(which I think your year is a pain) place injector onto an old head. You must put the injector on an old head because you will lose the insides of injector if activated without. Then activate the injector via laptop. Then visually see the injector spray. It could be partly clogged and spraying a big wad of fuel instead of a "soft" spray. Was the timing verified? On setup the timing is supposed to be checked and then compared with what the ECM says the timing is. If not the same it should be entered into the ECM. Was there anything done right before it started?

I'm no expert on ficht, but couldn't you just try an injector cleaner in the gas for a few tank fulls?

Re: ficht hole shot

The '99 FICHT uses 40 volt injectors and triggering them with a laptop will result in a "click" if everything is electrically OK. The battery 12 volts is not enough to make them build up pressure and spray a pattern.

That test worked fine for the older 24 volt injectors.

Re: ficht hole shot

If I remember correctly, the pulse lines for the oil pump feed from cylinders #1 and #3. If the pump diaphragm leaks, excess oil can carbon those plugs and also cause misfiring at certain rpms. Pull the pulse lines, as long as they go to #1 and #3, and test the diaphragm according to the manual. That was a fairly common problem on those motors, until OMC found a vendor with better quality diaphragms.

Re: ficht hole shot

I appreciate the help , I tested the injecter
a labtop , A guy I know that fishin BFL told me to pull my oil tank to see if it had water in it
I pulled it,it had water in the bottom of the tank. He said his was doing same thing.I will put a new tank & line this week . seahose I am going to check on pulse lines too. Again I appreciate the help. P S Reel Precision you should know when you do a syn-link you check the timing. THANKS

Glen,
I understand you probably checked the timing I just didnt know if you compared it to what the computer said the timing was. Glad you figured out what it was.

Re: ficht hole shot

I put new oil & tank in it still didn't help
I know it needed to be change because it had some water in the bottom of the tank but it still
cut out comming of the hole. There something that
not letting drop #1 & #3 cylinder,Eric at DFI TECHNOLOGIES think it not my ECU. I am at a deadend. I have a evinrude direct injection troubleshooting worksheet now I will start over
