FICHT Reliability??

The current Evinrude outboards seem highly reliabile, but the first ones were problematic. Would a 2001 225 HP FITCH be a good engine or should I expect trouble?

its had 14 years to be a problem but its still going so id hazard a guess its pretty decent.not trying to be funny about it but unless that motor has zero hours id say its safe to say its paid its dues.you could run a computer check and see if any issues cropped up in that time.

Ficht (among other things) is what put OMC into bankruptcy. However, not every model was problematic. Google it and you should find out which model(s) to avoid.
