Filling corrosion pits in drive?

I need to fill some corrosion pits in the drive and transom assembly before painting.
What is the best product out there that won't pop back out in a few years?
Someone told me to try JB weld but I didn't think it would be strong enough.
I am sand blasting everything to remove the paint and corrosion. Do I need to clean the pitted spots with acid before filling?

Thanks

Is that the thick putty or is there a liquid product?

it's sandable in a couple of hours. i filled a 1inch x 1 1/2 gouge in my aluminum boat with it, over a year ago.

Do you guys think I need to clean with some kind of acid or just bead blast the corrosion out.

remember it is aluminum, more acid is more corrosion.

KLOS, You can use any marine putty, polyester resin or epoxy resin based. Poly-based putty is plenty strong and will not fall out. All you need to do is wipe the metal down with acetone to degrease it and apply the putty. What you are seeing is galvanic corrosion, so make sure you prime and paint all bare metal and keep the zinc anodes clean.

You might try a rotory file and sand paper to clean out the corrosion. Then apply JB weld. sand smooth prime and paint.
