Filthy spark plugs

Just pulled the plugs on my Nissan 9.8 and the ends that go in the block were covered with a black granular goop. It looked like solidified 2 stroke oil with little hard bits in it. What is this? Should I be concerned about this?

Black goop would mean you're running extremely rich. Does it smoke when running? "hard bits'? I guess it depends on what the hard bits are, but it's hard to tell without seeing them.
