Finally bought first boat question

I finally made up my mind and bought a 1988 Mako 20 ft with a 2005 Evinrude 150 fuel injected motor. My question is the motor is not against the back of the boat like I normally see. Can anyone tell me way this set up is and why it would be this way? Hopefully I didn't overpay. Floors and everything else solid, runs great

Its an outboard motor pod. Effectively makes the boat longer, which changes the way a hull will ride, and allows the motor to be a little shallower in the water.

You bought a boat and didnt ask the seller about the pod?

1st of all that's a Merc Saltwater model 150HP. Motor set backs like that put the boat up on plane quicker for a easier ride.
