Finally bought me a GPS

Yep, I did it. Been putting it off for too long too. I love this thing. I havent put it down since I got it. I tracke my way home from the tackle store. <br /><br />I know, its not the best one, or even the newest one out, but I have never held one in my hand, so I didnt want to go all out yet. It is the Eagle Explorer. They had them on close-out for $50 so I could not resist. When I get good with this one, them I buy that new Garmin like JB gots. Anyways, any pointers on this thing would be much appreciated.

I have an Eagle Explorer. Great unit. The ant is very good. Even through the roof it still gets a signal. I paid alot more than $50!. You got a great deal. I also got the Marine unit with mapping.

Congrats Nate! Have fun with it. I think I about drove my wife nuts when I first got one. Couldn't leave the driveway to go to the grocery store til the GPS was warmed up and had a fix. Constantly had to tell her the car's speedometer was off by 2.3 mph. etc... Great fun!

The mapping unit came with the GlobalMap 100 handheld Marine GPS. Looks exactly like the Explorer as far as shape and size go. I don't think you can put maps in the Explorer but then I never really checked it out. I know that the Explorer is no longer being supported by Lowrance as it has been discontinued. Still a great unit. You can't get hurt for $50.

They are great to have when you are vacation. It is hard to get lost once you have marked your hotel and airport. Mine is old and does not have the mapping capabilities. I use it for marking spots in the summer that look like good places to ice fish. Even with a cheap one you cant go wrong. They are lots better then a compass.
