Well finally got out on Lake Hopatcong today with 20mph winds and gust up to 30. The Smart tab were just plain awesome. I was able to handle the chops that the wind produced with no issues. Got on plane quicker. It was like a totally different boat. Really happy with the results. Just wasn't happy with the install. But that really didn't have anything to do with the Smart Tabs. :) Great product.

Why were you not happy with the install? Please explain.

I forgot how well the Smart Tabs worked until I upgraded boats recently. I had the Smart Tabs SX on my previous boat. The newer boat has no trim tabs at all. The newer boat takes longer to plane with lots of bow rise, wanders at idle speed, and really rocks back and forth when crossing wakes or in rough water. All are traits that my previous boat had before I installed the Smart Tabs. Yeah, I guess I'm sold on them. I installed them myself and it was easy and almost painless. (The hole drilling in the hull made me a mite nervous!) I'll be putting them on the newer boat before my first outing this spring.

Yeah what was wrong with the install?? I am curious as well??????

Nothing wrong with the instruction or the how Smart tab tells you to install. They were dead on. It was more of what I found out about boats in general and how they are made.

Here is the post about it.

OH I see. That was an interesting story. Mine is a 02 195 Bayliner and there was no water in mine, but that doesn't mean anything as I do not slip mine and it only sees water in the summer. Bayliner Customer Service frequents every now and then on here. I would be interested in what they have to say concerning it, but as you say it is documented and they are stilll in business so I wouldn't be too worried, but still.....

I have had SMART TABS since winter and when I took it out this summer I could not believe the difference. I recommend them to everyone!!
