Well after my saga of finding sealant (other post), I finally got my smart tabs installed this afternoon. It was really straightforward so no complaints, can't wait to get it on the water!

This is the sealant I ended up using:

I don't know about the tabs but the sealant will be fine. Your boat, I like it, nice, it will fix up great. What is it exactly?

Big,

Let me know how the smart tabs work for you? What size did you get? Also I'm very interested in how the smart tabs affect transducer operation.

I'm waiting to order until I find out how they affect top speed. I know they claim to increase top speed, but I'd like to hear from real world experience.

Let me know what you find out!

I got 3 mph more out of mine with the boat fully loaded than I usually can.

Re: Finally got the Smart Tabs ON!!!

Finally got out to the lake yesterday afternoon to test out the smart tabs, and all I got to say is WOW!! 100% improvement in everything that they claimed. It completely fixed my low speed wandering. Quicker on plane speed and much more stability at speed. I can also actually plane at speeds as low as 12-13 mph! I only picked up 1 mph on the top end but thats ok. Overall I am definately recommending smart tabs to everyone with a boat LOL! Its been said a million times, but I'll say it again, this is the best $100 I have spent on the boat.

Mine just came in the mail. I can't even find the blemish on my blemished set!

Going on tomorrow!

Looks great. What are the black circular things on each side of your transom? They look like exhaust flappers but obviously aren't.

I thought they might be scuppers, but I haven't seen ones quite like that before.

They look like worn scupper flaps. I think I have the same ones.

When they get old they get stiff and stick out like that.

Either replace the rubber flaps with new ones, or if you can't find the right size, you can remove the retaining ring, flip the flaps over, then reinstall the ring. Almost good as new.

Yeah they are scupper flaps and they are very worn out. I actually just plug the holes because those rubber flaps are below the water line all the time so they would just flood my boat! jdlough, are yours below the water line? If so how do the flaps work for keeping water out?

Re: Finally got the Smart Tabs ON!!!

I have a SeaSwirl 2100 DC. The water line is usually right about the middle of the scupper hole. At rest, if you stand back by the motor, some water (maybe 1/2") comes in on the fiberglass deck stern area, just enough to get your sneakers wet (or soak the kid's towels).

When I start moving again, the water drains out. It hasn't bothered me much.

The flaps don't really keep the water out very well. At most, they slow it down if you stop too fast, and your wake comes up to hit you from behind.
