...and fortunately I don't have to post the result in the SHT forum!

Sneaked out of work early yesterday since it was 80's and sunny-- put in the plug, hooked up the boat, checked the plug, drove out to my favorite lake, checked the plug, got her ready for the water, checked the plug, dropped her in, motor started right up.

This was the first test of a lower unit I had bought off ebay, so it was good to see the boat went forward and backward like it should. When I went to WOT, I was gritting my teeth in case the LU blew up, but no problem. I'm also paranoid every time I replace a LU in case I don't line up the water guide tube properly, since the '72 Evinrude doesn't have a telltale. But no overheat issues either.

Great to be back on the water! Even for a little shakedown cruise. Windier and choppier than I like, but a gorgeous summerlike day with hardly anybody else out.

I did lose another hat. I lost a brand new "Evinrude 100 Anniversary" hat at the beginning of the season last year. So that's becoming kind of an annual season-opener tradition.

When I was younger I used to open the season by falling in the water. I think I'd prefer to sacrifice the hat :p

Glad you had a good run.
