2 years ago, I made the choice to go back to school and finish a degree that I never finished. I originally went to college for architecture and urban planning, but switched to business and then never finished because I decided to work instead. I started getting promoted and the $ made me think that was a better option. While I still work there, I have always wanted to get the degree as a back up, to improve the resume, and have the ability to switch professions at some point.

I work 50 to 60 hours a week....and the hours are random but usually I am not home until 10pm most nights and work weekends rarely having two days off in a row. I somehow managed to take an on-line business program at Cardinal Stritch University in my "spare" time, and finally submitted my final capstone paper the other day. 65 pages on organizational leadership.

Now I am finally done! Get to graduate next month.....still trying to decide if I want to walk or not. I think my parents would want me to walk, plus my Mom went back to college there 10 to 15 years ago to finish a degree.

Congratulations Pony. Sometimes it's a sweeter accomplishment when you've gone back to it.

Congratulations! I went back to school at 30 years of age after getting kicked out of undergrad for poor grades (Fraternity, too much partying and not enough studying). It was tough to do it when you had to balance a job, a wife, mortgage, car payments, etc. No better feeling that to get that degree, though. Make the effort to go to the ceremony and walk. Its one of those "once in a lifetime" events. Even if you earn other degrees in your lifetime, this is your first and it should be properly celebrated!

I dropped out of college, enlisted in the Marines, and went to Vietnam. They told me at the time that only a small percentage of dropouts ever go back and finish - I told them I didn't care, I was going to go back and finish, and I did. I worked days, took courses at night, then worked nights and took courses durng the day....
Finally finished, then I got a Masters at night - all paid for by employer! (those days are pretty well gone)

Good for you - an education is always worth it. You have now completed what Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity all failed at - they are all college dropouts.

I went to high school in Whitefish Bay, and I think I had Kopps at least twice a week. I think we really take for granted the frozen custard around here.....

Thanks everyone! It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders after that paper was submitted.

Congrats to you...I remember the massive weight being lifted when graduation came. College was by far the most arduous time in my life as I'm sure it was for you and directly contributed to the lifestyle we have achieved.

Envious of anyone who completes what they set out to do, and a college degree is one heck of a accomplishment. I say enjoy the walk.

Thanks again! I am definitely planning on taking the walk now. 2014 is going to be one crazy year. Graduation, and my wife and I are expecting in November.
