Wanted to thank all who helped me with my sunken 2011 Cobalt boat. I had the engine rebuilt and replaced the ECM, starter, alternator, coil and ignition module, throttle position sensor, and throttle body. But I could not get the engine to run without surging at idle. I ended up taking it to a dealer where it sat for 3 months. In the meantime, I had open heart surgery , and that set me back also. I picked my boat up, and they were unable to find the cause of the surging either. I just bought a fuel pump pressure kit, and a new manifold pressure sensor (MAP). So today I pulled it out of the shop, and fired it up. To my great joy, it now runs perfect. I guess the new MAP sensor was the key. I only have a gauge problem now. My gauges all come from the computer, and the master gauge with an alarm screen says no engine data . The only gauge that is working is the volt meter. I do have the Rinda Diacom, and engine temps, oil pressure are displayed on the Rinda. Is there something in the computer I need to reset to make them read out to the Gauges? Thanks Dave-R

Sounds like you have smartcraft, so look for the connector on the motor and see if the cable is connected going up to the gauges

All Dodge: You just might be right. The new gauges I bought were all OEM Medallion brand, and were over 700.00$ They also have the information/malfunction screen built into the Speedometer. I hope it could be so simple as that. I will trace the wires back from the helm, and see if I can find a plug. On the engine there are quite a few plugs with nothing plugged in. This is my last hurdle to put the boat on the water. My worry was that I would have to take it to a Cobalt dealer because their gauges can only be purchased from them. When I'm done I'll post some pictures. She looks brand new. Thanks Dave-R

Hope it works out.
Your boat had smartcraft gauges originally didn't it? This is how smartcraft is connected

I have an bad feeling that my problem might be what they call a MDC. I googled Medallion gauges, and found lots of trouble with the Mastercraft boats using Medallion gauges also. They say this MDC is attached to the speedometer pito tube, and can be damaged if not unplugged for the winter. I going to see if this is what I've got. Of course they are about 300.$ Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dave-R

Have not heard the issue, but have never heard about disconnecting the gauge from the pitot tube. At speed water pushes up the tube but not really that far. The water coming up increases air pressure, and as soon as it slows or stops it pushes back out.

All Dodge: I finally found the problem. On my speedometer plug, when I pulled it off there sticking out were 2 little pins that were corroded off. I would like to think they were inside the female plug before, and that they pulled out this time I pulled the plug apart. After a short prayer, I turned on the key and everything including the trim indication is working now. It's been a long project, more than I thought. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Dave-R
