I have a 1990 50 h.p. force motor, but can't find serial or model numbers. There was a sticky on the motor, but doesn't reveal any info.

Re: finding serial and model Numbers

Knowing it is a 1990 is 99% of the problem.

Serial number is not needed.

And almost every part is interchangeable from model to model.

Now, if you are trying to register and title it in one of the 3 states that do these things, things get a little sticky.

And since you are new to this, did anyone tell you that you need to add TCW3 oil to the gas when you fill up?

If you don't, you will blow up the motor.

Add 2.6 ounces of oil for every gallon of gas you put in.

If your real desperate, under the back cover(Force) of the mid section. There is a casting stamp on the exhaust housing that will give the year and month it was made in.
Not positive but the Mercs have the silver plug on the right side as you look at the rear of the motor towards the bottom.
