Hey guys...a little show and tell for you. I just got done with my bow roller/pulpit project. It turned out GREAT! I thought I would share it... Took the boat out over the weekend and I must say that it is great being able to EASILY deploy and retrieve the anchor. Not to mention it looks pretty sharp as well! It is nice to not have the anchor in a milk crate in the cabin anymore... More room for more stuff...WooooHoooo! The bow roller is a lemar self launching mirrored stainless steel. The wood is teak. I also added a tensioner, lifting cleat and a bow pipe... Everything is mounted right above the anchor locker. The hardest part of this project? That would be the backing for the pulpit...what a pain! You never realize just how many angles and curves are on a boat until you get a straight piece of wood and metal to try to back something up. But I got 'er done... Now if only I could afford that windlass...LOL There's always something, isn't there?
Nice...I have an '87 Regal Majestic 210XL Cuddy...I would love to see more pictures of the interior of your boat (re-doing seating in mine this year). Did your boat already have an achor locker or did you build it? (Mine doesn't and I would love to have one!) Looks great!

-JustMrWill

How come the wood in your second picture looks like a common 2 x 6? The finished product looks real good. A pricey hunk of teak, I bet?

Mr Will...the anchor locker was in the boat. It looks factory to me. I will have to get some interior pictures of it for you. It is behind a mirrored teak door. Very nicely done. I love my Majestic...a sweet boat and it takes some heavy seas very well too!

Boom...you tore my heart out guy...calling my teak a common 2 by 6! Those are fighting words!! (just kidding...) I got rained out after I put that piece on...went back out to take a picture afterwards. It does look bad in that picture though...and I assure you it is teak. It cleaned up nicely in the end. Pricey? GULP...it sure was...really nervous working with expensive wood like teak. Measure twenty times before each cut!

Re: Finished my bow pulpit...

Hmmm...I have a mirrored door too but no hole in deck to run the rode through. Any problem with water pooling in locker? I love my Majestic! I have done many searches for them but they seem to be a rarity. It handles the ocean damn good and I love the full transom teak swim platform (great for scuba diving). I'll upload some original pictures soon so I can give you a link.

Where exactly in SW FLorida are you located?

-JustMrWill

Re: Finished my bow pulpit...

Mr. Will... I have yet to see another boat like mine. I don't know why there isn't many around. They are great boats though. As for the hole for the rode...there wasn't one for mine either. I added a stainless steel deck pipe with a hinged lid to get the rope and chain through. It works like a charm. I was nervous cutting THAT big of a hole in the deck, but it turned out really good. No problem with pooling water in the locker. A little bit of water comes in with the line and pools in the bottom but it evaporates out pretty quick. I need to figure out a way to add a drain in there. You know what I am saying when I say that will be a big project...so for now I am just watching it to see what happens. Do you have storage under your bunks in the cabin? I had one on the port side when I got the boat...somebody had cut a 2'x1' section out, hinged it and taken out the foam. I debated for a while and did the same on the starboard side. I lost a storage area when I put the pulpit on...I have to use the anchor locker as an anchor locker now. There was some foam in there...a piece about the size of a cocker spaniel I guess. I hinged it and now have storage on both sides. I don't think that foam would have kept the boat afloat anyways...not with what she weighs! I will do the same with pictures too...

Re: Finished my bow pulpit...

Much better...
I have high speed internet so it wasn't a problem for me....dial-up users probably weren't too happy.
No..no storage under cushions in cuddy.. .I was thinking that would be a good idea.

Hurry up and get me some pictures... :)

How fast does your boat get with the 5.7L? Do you know if that was factory or re-powered?

-JustMrWill

Re: Finished my bow pulpit...

Got her up to 52mph (GPS) with trim tabs and a four blade prop. Two foot seas too! It is all factory...this boat will scream. Then again so will my wallet with the fuel bill... :( It is a cream puff...not much time on it. It spent it's life out west in Colorado until I got it. Very good shape...only problem I am having now is some stitching coming apart in the cushions. I will have to resew them...

Under your bunks...measure in an inch from edge facing the floor space between, go eight inches toward the bow from the rear bulkhead, then go a foot deep and two feet wide. That is about all you want to do...use a jigsaw and let her rip. (watch your blade depth...you come close to the hull in the front outside corner) Taking the foam out is a major pain in the you know what...very tedious. But well worth it... Also...I had a leak from the cabin floor into the starboard bunk area where the fuel lines went through. When I washed down the boat if the bow wasn't pointed at the sky a little bit of water would get into there...might want to check yours out there. How fast does yours go?

Re: Finished my bow pulpit...

I have gotten her up to about 35 (GPS and speedo on humminbird) BUT that was only 3/4 throttle. Seems that if I full throttle it - she dies...re-building carb before this season...I figure she will get low 40s atleast. I use her for scuba diving and fishing...alittle waterskiing and tubing on local lakes sooooo much faster is not NECESSARY.

I have a problem with water in the step-down for the cuddy too. looks like there suppose to be a drain going to bilge but mine is blocked. I would have to pull 52 gal gas tank out to re-pipe it. I keep a "Mister Thirsty" hand pump onboard to empty it after washdown (not much gets in there while running).

Email me at justmrwill@yahoo.com so we don't use this forum as a personal correspondence system. :)

-JustMrWill

Cool beans! Gotta love the old Regal Majestic's... I have never seen another one and now I am in touch with two guys that own the same boat! Isn't the internet great? Thanks for the kudos, Tallman... What kind of ideas are you needing? I really do need to get some more pictures of my boat....Here are two other pictures I have right now:

web page

web page

Hey I saw an old post where you were asking about the vent window on the boat. I was missing one when I bought mine, and found the company that actually made it. If you need the Channel for the side window contact this lady

*pout* I now have engine envy (say that 10 times real fast!) I got the runt powerplant only 4.3L OMC....Both boats look nice. tallman - you re-vinyled the original side boards or did you make modifications?

There is a Regal Owners Club

Regal Owners Club

Should check it out...but Majestics are like the b@stard children

I lost one vent window while trailoring...I took out the other one now I have easy access to my fenders. (I may replace vents or just get non-opening glass installed)

-JustMrWill
