Can you elaborate on the details of what needed to be done to accomplish that? It looks fantastic.

Re: Finished Project. From 79 power tilt - 85 Power Trim/tilt

Gladly AMD:

I purchased a 1985 90hp Merc with the integrated power trim. Basically stripped the powerhead off of that motor, so that all I had was the mid section and lower unit (Lower unit was left off for instaliation as my boat sits too low on the trailer and it would have hit the garage floor). Took off my 1979 140 powerhead (Took off thelower cowling and unbolted the powerhead) and pulled the belly pan AND powerhead off the mid secion. Then pulled the mid section and trim/tilt rams off. Plugged the mounting holes with 5200. While that was drying, I took the pump and hoses out of the boat (Left a hole in the motor well that I have to cover somehow). Took the 85 midsection w/o lower unit and placed it on the transom. Measured to get it in the middle, clamped it there and maeked and started to drill the 6 holes. Took the mid section back off and finished the holes. Put it back on and bolted it to the transom. Then lowered the 79 powerhead w/ belly pan onto the mid section (Afterfitting the gasket), put the nuts on the studs and hooked up the shift and throttle levers. The wiring for the new power trim took a little figuring out (It works, but up is the trailer button and down is the down button), installed the lower unit today with some help with the shift shaft alignment and drive shaft alignment, and that's it. Took one day to change the mid section and move the powerhead. Another day to do the wiring and cable connections, shoulders were giving out and wasn't able to pick up the lower unit, so I did that one on the third day.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm going to sell the rest of it soon.

I really like your boat AMD

Craig

Oh, I forgot, I didn't have a lifting ring, so I took 2 nylon straps and put them through the belly pan's handles front to back. Worked great.

Craig
