Well I got another hole in the water where my money goes. 28' Lurhes sportfisher. it's got twin 302 ford motors with velvet drive transmissions and Walter V drives. I was going to the coast this weekend to start work on her and get every thing in order (does that ever happen?). I'm not sure yet but I think one motor is going to be counter rotating. Standard rotation is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Whats the order for a counter motor?
thanks

Re: Firing order for counter rotation motor

These are mid 70's model Waukesha 188hp(?) motors with 2bl holley carbs that have not been started in a few years. Worked on it for an hour or so last weekend and pulled the carbs for rebuild. I did not have time to look much more. I was going to spend 3 days starting this weekend going through it completely to make my list of "To Do's".
The boat was being trailered some years back and was rear ended causing minor non-structural damage to the transom. The glass repair will take me about 3-4 days (I'm slow and take my sweet time)to repair and them a few more to paint the hull. The motors I wanted to get them cranked to evaluate their condition before pulling them to recondition the engine room as well as gain easier access to the transom from the inside. The boat has great lines and will make a nice family fisher when finished.

I have twin 302's in my 1988 Baha Cruiser. According to my PCM Service Manual firing orders are as follows:
Left Rotation from the rear 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.
Right Rotation from the rear 1-8-4-5-6-2-7-3.
Walt

J.kopec and tie_one_on
Thanks for the replies. My engines are mid to late 70's models. Ford changed the firing order after 1984.

Mine is a '73 & the order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Ford rotors turn CCW on the standard engine. I would pay close attention to the plug wires before removing them....Jeff

Wasn't it Ford a few years ago that had the slogan "Ford has a better Idea" or something like that? LOL
