Ok so in the process of a tune up on my 1991 glastron i think i made a mistake with the spark plug wires. Pretty sure the wires got mixed up from the plugs to the cap. I have a 1991 volvo penta 230a. Need some assistance straighten these wires out. On the air cleaner the firing order says 1342. So does that mean the number one cylinder is the one towards the front of the motor???? If so i understand the firing order from the cylinders . but i have no idea how to match them up on the distributor cap???? If someone can please help me that will be great...Thanks

Yes, #1 is the front cylinder.
You first have to find #1 TDC on the compression/firing stroke. Then look at where the rotor in the distributor is pointing. That will be #1 spark plug wire, then just follow the firing order in the direction of the normal rotation of the distributor.

Look at this thread to find TDC. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=427081
