My boat was stolen last year and I just got it back in bad condition. I want to thank everyone here as I have fixed it all myself by reading your replys. The motor was seized but I soaked the cylindars in tranny fluid and it freed itself in a week.I had to replace coil, points, condencer, fuel pump and other things. I am now ready to try and fire it up. My problem is I do not know which plug wire goes where. It says the firing order is 1-3-4-2 and it is a 1985 120 horsepower mercruiser. Can anyone explain the firing order to me.

Re: firing order

hello
bring it up to #1 cyl at TDC on compression stroke. an easy way to do this is to remove #1 plug and hold your finger over the hole. while remaining clear of all moving parts have someone, or use a remote switch, bump the starter. when your finger is pushed off the hole its coming up on TDC compression stroke. I use the altenator nut to finnish rotating the engine to align the TDC mark on the pully to the mark on the timing cover. now remove the dist cap. if the distributor has not been removed the rotor will now be oriented (pointing) at the cap tower corresponding to the #1 cyl plug wire. looking down on the cap and going clockwise the next tower will be #3, the next is for #4 and the last is easy.
hope that helps a bit.
