I have a 96 4.3 Mercruiser. My previous thread I discuss the alarm going off. It was a bad impeller. They also filled the trim unit.

Took the boat boat on the water ran great and no alarm. But some oil in water and speedometer wasn’t reading right suddenly. Now in driveway there is a blueish oil neat engine on ground

Ayuh,.... Boat speedos never work right,...

Blue oil is most likely drive lube,....

They changed the impeller. Could they have screwed something up? Is drive lube lower unit oil or is it different.

I’m freaking out a bit thinking they ruined the lower unit. It leaked some blue green oil in driveway and in water. We ran it for a while and only symptoms were Speedo wasn’t working right. Think we ruined lower unit or no?

If you ran the unit with low oil in the drive, yes, damage could have been done. The speedo is most likely they forgot to reconnect the pick up hose at the top of the gear housing.

Take it back to them and have them pressure test the drive and fix the leak. Personally, I would stand there and watch them doing it to make sure it's being done right.

Update- it was the line that runs from the gear lube bottle through the transom to the lower unit. Fortunately, lower unit wasn't affected as it was full of oil, just needs that new tube. Whew.
