i was wondering i just got my boat on july 4 weekend. i took it out friday and it ran fine. but when i took it out sat after filling up the tank i put it in and it idled fine and when you go to take off if you take off slow with the throttle it would die when you go down 3/4 it would die but if you just put it all the way real fast it would plane off just fine but would not rev up all the way just felt like it was loading up or maybe not enough fuel.

Wlt.
Nice description of the problem. It is just that no one would have a clue as to you problem without a good description of the motor, type , model, serial#,etc. Also any recent repair or maintenance.

Uncle Dave

not sure what carb setup you may have, but try to see if the accelerator pump is working correctly... you should have good solid squirts of fuel into the carb when the throttle is pushed down. If you have somebody push the handle down while you look, you should see them with the air cleaner off. (recommmended to do this with engine off so no backfire into your face possible)

If the acc. pump does not squirt, then most likely you can rebuild the carb and fix your problem. You may have some crud in the carb that's restricting the fuel flow. If the squirts are good and that seems to work ok, I guess we'd need more info to give more advice. When refueling, you may have stirred up some stuff or water in the tank and pulled it into the carb. Might not hurt to pull the top of the carb anyhow and see what it looks like in there.

Check the fuel filter at the carburator. I had the same problem. I had put the carb. fuel filters in that were made of the cardboard type material, and one of them collapsed. The carb. wasnt getting enough fuel. Same symptoms you are having... I replace them with the plastic filters (about $2.50 each) and that solved my problem.

-David
