I just picked up a 15ft Yaro tri-hull with a 65hp Mercury 650 I believe it's a 1972, our first boat . Pulled the carbs dunked them for 24 hrs and blew out all needles and passages, fresh fuel/oil, changed the lower unit oil. PO changed impeller not long before I bought it, looks new and gasket in good condition pisses pretty good. Getting fuel and spark, compression is 120, 130,135 plugs are in good shape not black. No tach or speedometer.
I'm having 2 issues with the boat though. The first is it won't go to WOT right away on the water, took it out went around for a while seemed ok, stopped fished for a bit and when we went to move I starred the motor and it would be good to about the halfway point on throttle the any more after that killed the motor. Puts around for a little bit once it warmed up it would go WOT. Not sure what's causing this.
2nd issue is reverse, prop spins the right way but no power, barely able to over come the current in the river even with alot of throttle.
