First Boat

I got my first boat today. It is a Glass Magic. I don't know a whole lot about the boat itself other that i have a lot of work to do to it and i got it for free. Aparently years ago my father in law got this boat and put it in my wifes name. The title has been lost and we are working to get a new title. i am sure the information will be on the title. I am a little anxious to get information sooner rather than wait for the title. I don't know the year or anything. I have tried to research it on the internet to figure out about it but have had no luck whatsoever. The tag on the boat says NO. 59 1585, Max HP 60. MFG by Marine Plastics, INC. It has a 1958 Evinrude Starflite 50 on it if thats any help. I look forward to this project since I think is going to be a nice looking boat and good for fishing in the lakes in the area. Any help that anyone can give me to figure out what it is would be appreciated.

I wouldn't put any money into it till you get paper work straightened out.

Don't expect to find much out from the manufacturer on the hull. Owner's manuals for boats aren't typically very informative. There's some about it over at FiberGlassics - and it is fun to find out history on the boat if you can.

Look for a manual on that motor if you can find one.

Like MH said, watch how much you put into her before you know you've legally got it. At least knows your NM laws on ownership.
