FIRST BORN !!!

[Allen Henry]

New member of the family. Kali Rae was born on 09-17-02 at 06:21, weighed 5 lbs and 3 oz. was 18 1/2 inches long. Looks to be the perfect daughter; but that might just be a boasting new father talking. She's our first and we feel that we are truly blessed. Sorry just had to brag a little.<br /><br />

TIP:<br /><br />Before too long you need to get a vaccume cleaner.<br /><br />Not that you don't already have one. I mean one you don't care if you blow up (I've gone through 2 with my last child of 4 children....thats alot of vaccumes).<br /><br />When she gets to crien and you can't get her to stop, teething and such, the vaccume will save your sanity....this is NOT a joke.<br /><br />When you turn it on its like a switch. She will stop crying and probly go right to sleep. Either way she will stop crying. Its something to do with the drone of the vaccume, kinda like going for a ride in a car, knocks em right out.<br /><br />Just be sure you know why she is crying first. You don't want to overlook something serious and try to put her to sleep.<br /><br />It works, Its awsome, and its fast.<br /><br />Fatherwood.

Congratulations Trooper, it looks like she'll need a Penn Senator at least. Those hands look strong so stand up gear is the way to train her. <br />Perhaps a cap for the sun, and should her first word be "boat" then thats OK as well.<br />Lady in the photo has plenty of yellow metal on, any one of those would get you a wee life jacket for the wee darling.......<br />Ross

Congratulations Trooper. You have a great little girl there. If she is sleeping most of the night already, you may get lucky. It usually gets better than worse with the sleeping. There is no way to slow them from growing up too fast, the only thing you can do is make sure you take lots of pictures, videos, and spend as much time as you can with the family. As Derwood said, you will see everything in a new light. None of us would trade our kids for anything.

Well Trooper 251, not much to add that has not already been said. As a father of 3 grown girls, they do grow up to fast. Stay as close to them as possible for you never know what can happen. Take them fishing all you can for this might keep them out of trouble and it teaches them some values. It's a cruel world out there and sometimes scary. Like when you look up and see a 50' houseboat coming throwing 6' waves.

Thanks again for all the nice replies. I have a lot to learn and I guess we'll do it together. Nothing like that good old hands on experience. It's bath time and the house is filled with the cries of discontent, bed time is soon to follow though and a calm will again fall upon this humble abode, at least 'til she wants something. So far she's been rather quiet and seems to be happy, which is my new goal in life, to keep her happy. I'll let this post slip into the night and put it to sleep as well. Congrats on mew daughter! I remember when mine were that small(now 13 & 16), it sure makes ya think about the future, huh? I got 3 others(2 steps)8&11 and our little guy(last!) 3.5. It's gonna be so cool for you when she gets older - ypu will have mant pleaseant and rewarding times! Heinz

The one piece of advice nobody gave me...(and I got a LOT of advice)- it's ok to walk into a closet, pull the door closed behind you, and scream at the top of your lungs "I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE". This is perfectly acceptable behavior fully utilized by most every parent at some time or another. Everybody goes on and on about how wonderful it is (and it IS wonderful), but we had a really tough time for the first 8 months (sick baby, sick wife). We really struggled. Everybody forgot to mention the tough times, so I felt pretty bad when I lost it. After talking with friends and family, I realized everybody loses it. We just never, ever cross that line and hurt a child. Enjoy!!
