Hello all,

I will be getting a 1999 60hp electric start /w tilt outboard soon. I have never owned or worked on a mercury before. Just johnson and rudes.

I will be changing the waterpump impeller imediately.

I noticed this engine has a 2 cycle oil mixxing system, should I axe this and premix the fuel myself? It is done often on the OMC motors for fear the mixxing system fails and kills the motor.

Was wondering does anyone recommend I get the factory OEM manual for this engine. (a lot of tricky settings and adjustments to know about?). Or are the cheaper manuals fine?

Thanks all!

Definitely get the OEM manual. Yes they cost more but are well worth it.
