We are ready for the next step from PWC so we are looking at a 2007 Parti Kraft 240RE 3 gate with a 90 hp outboard motor. The boat is owned by an ederly couple and has under 200 hours on it and is in excellant condition and they don't use it enough. I have not done much research into the quality of Parti Kraft as compared to other brands out there so i joined this forum to get help. here are the specs on it. 2007 Parti Kraft 240RE 3 gate with a 90 hp outboard (i think yamaha), full carpet, bimini top, winter cover, full enclosure (1 yr old), power inverter 1500w, porti pot and changing room, dual batteries with charger, double sink for cleaning fish or washing up, tow bar for pulling, color fish finder, perimeter light ropes, and comes with balance of the slip for the year and rights to renew the slip in the marina for next year. there is no trailer with the boat and it has been serviced and stored by the same company they bought it from new. They are asking $21,000 for it but we run the NADA value and $18,700 is sug. retail for it. the slip is worth at this poing about $600. The condition is i would say excellant. carpet is not faded, seats are all good and pontoons are like new.
My question is are pontoon trailers universal and can be found used out there for this boat or will we have to buy a new one that is specific to that boat. a trailer is a must beign that i am not paying the prices they want to pull and store for winter.
Is a 90 hp big enough for a 24' pontoon. all we ever may do is pull a tube. the PWC will be used for the other fun.
any feedback is appreciated.

Well NADA has never bought s boat in its life. Its all about condition. Toon trailers are by length and their not especly hard to find and even brand new your talking about 1500 to 3 k. And a toon makes a great place to PWC from.

Just looked this up and found one with a 150 and 363 hours for $2650.00 with a trailer.

Trailers are not made for specific models. The right size is all you would need.
Good luck.

Welcome to the forum, "digin66". They should be able to do a little better on that price. I would recommend a dual axle trailer w/ brakes for a 24' barge though. Sounds like a really nice, heavily optioned rig. Good luck !!!

A few things, first welcome to the wonderful world of tooning! I hope you can keep the PWC, because the two make for a great combo. I have had one of each for many years.

Now, down to business....NADA is nothing more than pointing you in the right direction. IMO, those books are nearly worthless especially on boats. Around here that pontoon is a bargain at that price....in fact, it would sell a few bills more all day long. The enclosure is worth $4k all by itself. Price one out and you will see what I mean.

Also, to keep things in perspective, I pay $4,300 a year for my slip :)

90 HP on that boat is a bit on the underpowered side, but not by much. heck, I had a 40 hp on my last 24ft toon. 90 will be adequate for sure, but you won't be breaking any speed records. Expect a top speed around 22 to 26 mph.

Is it a 2 stroke or 4 stroke? If a 2 stroke, it will be worth less $, but perform a bit better.

As to negotiating, everyone will usually budge. If it were me and I wanted it, I would probably start a grand below their asking price and see what happens. The pontoon after market is about to turn on it's head....hard to say what will happen. Boats are in short supply and generally, July 4th marks the beginning of the end of the buying season. They will want to sell it and will be hard to turn away an offer. not a lot of time left.

As to trailers, you will definately want a dual axle, but I would say brakes are optional. If you are going to use the slip, i would not worry about a trailer. If you ever need one, then either rent or buy one.

You've received good advice. They're still asking too much $, but the pontoon is especially loaded with options including a $4K full enclosure. Look good for the mid 20's mph, but no more. I suggest looking at Iboats.com and/or Boattrader.com and Craigslist.com filtered for your locale for comparable boats.

You can buy a good mid line twin toon pontoon boat for $12K, and a new Merc. 90 hp motor can be bought for about $7.5K. Such a boat would be okay for pulling tubers, but I'd suggest going $9K for a 115 hp motor for better performance.

Pontoon trailers are somewhat generic, and you can buy a nice new trailer for $2K--$2.8K with surge brakes. Good used trailers are not showing up often on the market. Brakes are needed if you live in a mountainous region or your tow vehicle is marginal.

I hope you have a good tow vehicle if you're going to ever pull it very far--V8 SUV or 1/2 ton truck is best. Toons pull heavier than they actually are due to length and poor aerodynamics. I pull with a 3/4 ton diesel crew cab.

Good luck on your search.

Re: First pontoon purchase, alot of questions, help!

thanks for all the advice. we secured it for 19,000 with the slip worth 2,000. very pleased and excited to go to the next step in boating. now the search is on for a trailer. i hope to find one that has been sitting and needs TLC. i will give it a good home and bring it back to life, otherwise the checkbook will come out again for a new one.
this forum has a lot of great information for the boating world. glad i found it.
