Hey all.

Got the boat back into the water again. There seems to be an intermittant starting problem, but its the least of my worries right now.

I think my dog ears and gears are done. Heres the story.

So we launch, and start the boat out on our way. We get about 300m from shore when my fishing buddy josh tells me the trim is set wrong. He can see my prop spinning when I plane. So I throttle back and turn the boat to head back to shore.

On the return trip I open the throttle all the way up and can feel a slight bump coming from the back end. I throttle back to 3/4. No thump. Back up to full. Thump... thump.. thump.. down to 1/2. No thump.

Wierd.. I push the drive selector all the way up. And open the throttle. The thump exists.

Back down to 3/4. No thump. We get back into shore and adjust the trim, but of course. The boat wont start again. We packed er in for the night and went home.

So.. Any ideas?

Before you start buying parts and opening it up verify that your prop is not slipping and that your gearshift cable is adjusted properly.

what have you done to the motor lately, has the lower unit been off. did the shift rod get connected back correctly, did any one twist the shift rod while off.

also disconnect the cable at the motor and shift to forward manually and give it a run.

draw line across prop, before running. even your prop has an inner and outer metal hub, with a rubber bushing in between.
