I'm a 16 year old kid looking to build a small 9 ft pickle fork. My friend is going to help me during this process and i was wondering if it would be ok to use my 1991
evinrude 9.9 hp engine and convert it to remote throttle. What do i need to convert my engine into a remote throttle and steering setup? does anyone have any plans or places to get kits?

A pickle fork hydro has those little pointy sponsons sticking out in front of the deck. In the bigger version, very fast and very unstable.

If you could post the year of the motor it would be extremely helpful. As far as I know, Evinrude never made a remote setup specifically for motors that low, but depending on the setup of the throttle you should be able to retro-fit a system from a larger motor. Post the year and if it has a tube just above the mounting brackets that you could run the end of a tele-flex cable through.

I am currently rebuilding a vintage hydroplane. If you use good strong materials the boat will not fall apart. If the boat is balanced properly, it will be very stable.

My Sooy hull, and nearly all other inboard hydros, are made of marine ply for the skins, and sitikita (spelled that wrong) spruice. The spruice is air craft quality wood and very strong. The deck was then layed with a layer of fiberglass for more strength.

Jim
