First time boat owner question

I just recently bought a 1994, 194 candia. In the book it says it should hold 30 gal of gas. I ran it out of gas and tried filling it and only managed to get 15 gal of gas in it. I would maybe assume there are two tanks? If so where is the second tank or how do you switch tanks? Any help would be appreciated as I do not know a lot about boats. Thanks

Re: First time boat owner question

I highly doubt your boat has two tanks. It's possible some defect caused the tank to deform and collapse. Have you considered removing the floor to examine the tank directly?

It's also possible the fuel pickup in the tank is not sitting on the bottom, and runs dry even when the tank is half full.

Lastly, perhaps the fuel pickup has corroded inside the tank and there's a pinhole in it halfway down. When the fuel drops to half full it will suck air.
