first time on water boat wont plane ?

so i'm looking at the prop i put on i found in a storage box in the boat and took the one it had on, the boat does not plane it moves good but wont go any faster and the tach jumps from 3k to 4k real fast...<br /><br />looking at the prop that came with the boat is aluminum and the hub looks much bigger...so<br /><br />1. did i just put a wrong size prop on ?<br /><br />2. or is there some kind of clutch mechanism thats slipping ?, cant be cause i see it kicking up lots more water when i gun it...<br /><br />any help please

Sounds like the hub rubber has spunout. You didn't say how the boat did with the original prop. Does it perform well with the original or is it the same results? If the hub has spun out just take the prop to the local prop shop and they can put a new one in it for a nominal fee.

it was the wrong prop i had on it 15p now it has a 17p and planes quick....

The 15 pitch prop should plane your boat quicker than the 17 pitch. THe 15 pitch probably needs to be rehubbed.
