First Time Out After Winter (New Boat)

This weekend will be my first trip out since putting the boat up in October. Looks like weather is going to be a little cold. I have a 90 Etec and was wondering a couple things. (25low-45high)

1. Should be able just to turn the key and let her fire up and idle for a while correct?

2. The oil I use is XD 50 some have told me oil light may come on in colder weather? Will this hurt if light comes on?

No engine stupid just Etec cold weather first time out for the season uneducated. Thanks

Well, the oil is not an issue as much as making sure ALL the water is out of it, when you shut it off. Any water left in that motor could freeze up and cause something to break, most likely a lower unit.

Whats the model number,It might need a oil pump kit.here was a warranty bullitin on this.The pressure switch was to senative.

I'd suspect the oil light might come on because the oil is not flowing as well when really cold. I believe those etecs are oil injected. Could be a problem if the oil is not flowing right??? I don't know first hand though. Do they sell a lower weight oil or a winter formula?

I think I'd be a little more patient and wait until the low temps are above freezing. Easier said then done.

Your motor is to new for the oil injector pump this was on 06 earlier.You should be set up for xd100,but if at the xd50 setting you should use xd100 at cold temps.
