Hi guys, Well at the ripe old age of 51 I just did my first outdrive removal. It went quite well. Nothing dropped or broken. I was greeted with what appears to be a brand new gimbal bearing and bellows. The guy I bought it from was truthful about that part of the boat at least. I'm replacing the transom plywood so the gimbal housing and transom plate are next. When I put it all back together, is their a full gasket kit I should be looking for? Seals for everything on transom and outdrive? It's an MC1 outdrive with a 120 inline 4. Drive# 2970347 motor#4511052. This is the first time I dove this deep into a project like this so any help would be much appreciated.

Ayuh,... There's the gasket/ o-ring set for puttin' the drive back on,...

The transom assembly has a gasket/ o-ring at the fiberglass junction that you'd buy separately,...
Leave the gimbel housin' on, 'n pull the entire transom assembly as 1,...
After the motor is out, 'n inner plate removed of course,...

Re: First time

That was my plan to leave everything on the outside of the boat in one piece. I worded that wrong in my first post. This is an aluminum transom, so is the gasket/o-ring still the same?

Ayuh,... The material don't matter, so long as it's a flat, true surface, same gasket,...

the older MC-1s were a cork gasket I believe, 'n I'm not sure when they went to the rubber o-ring,...
