Motor ran good , ran about 32-35mph . 1979 Silverline tri hull with 1973 johnson 135. Only thing changed out control box to newer mid 80's style . Don't like feel of control and shifting , . My old 73 control had broken ignition key . Will switch from newer control work in older one ?

1973 switch = 386947
1985 switch = 508180
The older switch uses a seperate choke switch, and the newer switch has a push to choke function. You could probably rewire the switch if you had the proper electrical schematic.

I looked at schematic and both same except for the choke terminal. The newer control didn't feel as solid when shifting. Maybe I am just used to older control.
