Just finished fixing up my 73 reinell with a 302Mercruiser.
Took it out and had a blast.
Trim tabs seemed to be reallllly slloow or I guess busted.
Steering was kinda ok...I think I need one of those spinning knobs..
The big problem I didnt see was the alt. waterpump belt doesnt line up
... the crank seems to stick out a bit too far and offset the belt which at WOT causes your belt to break..
I was able to get back using some nylon string I just happen to buy that day
My thought is to junk the waterpump for an electric one and just try and fix the alignment of the alt. instead of trying to fiddle with the pump
Only thing is the 302 is a rebuild not the original engine so trying to fit a electric might be a hassle
You can see the water pump is off I believe the alt. is too but the picture doesnt show it
