First winter for the pontoon boat.

We have been towing a fifth wheel trailer to Florida for the winter for the last five years. We would like to tow the pontoon boat down with us this year but we only have one big diesel truck. I wouldn't even consider towing in tandem. I figure the boat wouldn't be a problem once we get it down there, we could store it when we aren't using it and it would be easy to use it from there. Anybody got any ideas how to get the boat to Florida for the winter?

Maybe try your local CL to find somebody with a decent vehicle and hitch you can hire to tow for a set price........you gotta figure what would it be worth to you for that service and go from there. Make sure they have towed before, have insurance, license and seem trustworthy (keep records). Someone you actually know would be much better. There may even be a service like that provided by some marina...these are hard times I'm sure someone needs the money.

Most RV dealerships provide tow service for RV's and many go to Florida for shows. Ask around to see if any of your local dealers are planning a trip to Florida. It could be a win - win.

This is an easy one...There is two of you right? Google Truck Rental in your area and rent a truck that you can return at a florida location near you. When you come back do the same. Easy.

Check out the railways. They ship cars and all sorts of things. You may even find that you can put your fifth wheel and truck along with your pontoon and get a sleeper cabin on the train. Would be a nice relaxing ride with no worries. Not sure of the price though....

That sounds like the way I would like to go. My son rented a small box truck and towed his car when he moved to Fl. about 10 years ago. My wife drives too so if she wants her boat along this might be the way to go. We have rv parks that we normally stop at every year that should have extra parking areas for a truck and boat. I will start checking on the cost of renting a truck. Thanks
