fish finder stops reading, transducer dirty?

I have an eagle fish finder( cheap model) Last year worked fine( new last year) It stops reading depth when under way. I believe it's mounted properly according to directions. My thought was does transducer get dirty and need cleaning maybe? Sugestions as to possible cause's welcomed.

Unlesss the boat sits in the water all of the time, the transducer should be fine.<br /><br />However, did it get moved? It doesn't take much to move one out of place.

Are you using a plastic clip on your transducer? I have an old eagle and was having the same problmes. On mine there is a plastic clip that locks down however when I put it on my trailer it unsnaps. Check to make sure it is tight
