A friend gave me a Pinpoint 7820 sonar unit (minus the transducer). My boat has a 200 khz transducer mounted on it from the previous Apelco unit that went bad. The Apelco connector does not mate with the pinpont unit. Can I buy a Pinpoint connecter and splice it to the transducer wire already on the boat? I have shopped the net and can't find anyone that has the Pinpoint trandsucer available. Should I just scrap the whole idea and buy the Eagle 320? Thanks for your help!!!

Re: Fish finder transducer

Try Cabela's. Their "bargain cave" usually has a bunch of loose transducers and cables. I live just a couple of miles from the Minnesota store and will take a look. I realize you only need the connector but I think you will need to contact PinPoint to get just the connector. Even then, that connector is molded to the cable so it still may not solve the problem. I have two locators on my boat and one of them happens to be a 7820. I'm not thrilled with it and much prefer my Eagle. The 7820 has one of the most user unfriendly menu systems I've ever seen.
