Should I leave my fish finder screen hooked up on the boat all the time? Worried about the connector plug getting corroded. If I leave it on should I cover with a plastic bag or something? Or are these things waterproof or just water resistant? Boat sits out no garage. It's aluminum so it won't rot. Thanks for any input.

Crash,

Most of those connectors are waterproof. However, a shot of WD-40 once and awhile will help.

I would be more concerned about the effects of the sun on the LCR screen. Sun fades them out.

If it's an expensive one, I believe I'd take in in the house. Agree sun is worse enemy than water. The least would be to buy a vinyl cover for it.

Crash
I take all my electronic in every day. I cover my boat but it is out in the sun and temperature under cover over 140 degrees in summer. Even if not covered if it is a dark or black case you can bet temp reaches 150 degrees. That type heat will shorten life of any electronics.

Also since have over $3000 worth of electronics on boat want to take in to secure.

Thanks for the info. I think I will take in every time I get back from fishing. That is what I have been doing. WD-40 good idea. Thanks for the info again.
