So as not to hijack another thread, why was humminbird left off of the recommended list?
I need to replace a 5" in a limited space. I was considering a 565. I had a Lowrance in my previous rig but don't feel any particular brand loyalty.
Tell me why I shouldn't consider the 565??

Humminbird was left off the recommended list because it doesn't qualify as "recommended", Dude.

For limited space try the Eagle Cuda 128 or 168 (Mine is a 168).

Good luck. :)

Back in the CB days I was given a Johnson Messenger III. I thought it was an OK rig until someone pointed out a minor flaw. I couldn't wait to get rid of it after that. The flaw drove me nuts everytime I used it.
What is Humminbirds flaw that I will go nuts over?
Sensitivity?? Resolution??

H'birds are notorious for losing signal on plane.

I do now like to say bad thing about any product but since you ask I agree with JB 100 percent. A year or two back there were about 10 threads running all the time about I can't see bottom above trolling speed. After working with many on the transducer mounting it seemed to me transducer must be creating it own turblance because no mater what you did made no difference.

Having said that I must say since the matrix series came out have only seen one or two with that problem.

Still with Garmin, Lowrance, Eagle, Furuno, and Raymarine all solid units why take a chance.

COOL! Now that's the kind of information that I was looking for. I asked for the good, bad and ugly and welcome the replies.
Thanks again.
