FishElite 500C - trouble configuring a WP using Lat/Long coordinates...

Hi -

I have an Eagle FishElite 500C Sonar/GPS/Nav unit. Bottom of page 110 in the manual spells out how to Create a Waypoint by entering desired position. Just when I get to the page with Latitude and click ENT, the page flashes very quickly and the unit immediately switches to a Compass Rose... instead of giving me the chance to enter Lat/Long coordinates that I need. Similar thing happens when I try to EDIT an existing Waypoint to adjust the Lat/Long coordinates - the unit simply flashes the Latitude page then immediately displays the Compass Rose...

Those of you who have this unit - have you seen such a thing on yours?

I've tried re-setting the unit to the factory settings - still the same thing. Do I need a software update to the latest version?

I would make sure I had the latest software available. There may be a fix for that problem in one of the updates.

I have the LEI card in the unit... but how do I connect this card to my computer? Do I need to purchase some type of USB Port that allows the card to be connected to my PC? Need to do some research... never upgraded a GPS.

You download the update to a card. I believe that unit uses the mini SD card and it should be 2 gig or less. After downloading it put the card in the unit, turn it on and wait for it to do the update.

Right, I understand that you download the update to the card. What I don't understand is how you hook the card up to the computer so that you can download the update to it?!

UPDATE: figured it out... but my SD card is bad and I need a new one to complete this.

All right - I've upgraded the software to 1.9.0 (from 1.5.0) and it all works as expected. Yippie!
