Hi folks, I am wanting to buy a new fish/depthfinder. I will only be on inland freshwater. I have in mind the Humminbird Matrix 17. A reasonably priced one I think. Anyone have any experience with it?? Or similar? What is anyones take on the whole fishfinder topic, worth the money, or just a toy? Thanks.

eagle fishmark 320 or 480.320 anr 480 pixels respectively. i have the 320 and can see a 1/16 ounce jig on the screen.thats not bad for 170 or so bucks.the only difference in the two is the number of pixels and about 30 0r so bucks depending on where you get it and if its on sale or not.

I have 2 Lowrance and a matrix 17. The Matrix is a good unit havent had any problems. The only thing I dont like is the matrix reads depths in feet vs. the lowrance shows feet and tenths. I have the cable to connect a handheld GPS this allows me to store more waypoints without using all the handhelds memory, the best part is the handheld is powered thru the cord so it doesnt eat up batteries, anytime I am crappie fishing I always have my gps on.

hi i have ahumming bird fish/depth finder i wouldnt call it atoy or fantastic but very useful as one day we lost power on it and its not till then that you realise how much you miss it as we live a rockey coast line and river estuary with lots of sand banks which could be dodgy without one

Hi, I recently bouth an Eagle 480 and I think it does a fantasic job at showing strucure like weeds and has very clear detail. I would highly recommend an eagle, I had some hummingbird units on my boat and I thought they didn't do a good job at all. They were on the boat when I bought it, so they might be older units, anyways the eagle son't disappoint.

I own a Matrix 17, and I really like it. I agree with greenwing about the feet not being in tenths. When I bought it new, the mount was missing a small cosmetic piece. I emailed customer service at humminbird, and I had a brand new mount own my doorstep within a week. No questions asked. Very easy people to deal with.

I want a Matrix 87 for my new boat. Check out that bad boy.

I've got a matrix 47 on my boat. No problems so far. I like it a lot.
