I am looking for recommendations for a freshwater fishfinder with GPS. I would like to stay below $500 or $600 if possible. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Should I post this under a different topic?

I have the LOWRANCE HDS5. Price, $650.00. A little pricey but I am very pleased with this unit. "LOTS" of features. Good luck.

I just got the Humminbird 385ci for $419 and I'm loving it. probably way cheaper in the US

works great with my Navionics chip.

LOWRANCE HDS5
The HDS5 is $1000 in Canada :(
I kinda wish I'd gone with a unit like that for its NMEA2000 output.... so my fuel flow meter could read in MPG....
Beware the Humminbird only outputs NMEA183
but NMEA2000 wasn't worth $400 to me... the Lowrance is sweet though.

If you can hold out a bit...Lowrance has some new units coming out...with some nice prices also.....in your price range and lots of features......some of the guys on bass boat central that tested them were very surprised how they performed.....these are combo units also..sonar/gps..I will be looking at them this spring as a upgrade....

I have just recently purchased a Humminbird 788ci and have used it only once. So far, so good. I like it. Price is around $650 now, but I found one on sale for less that $600.

I got the Lowrance Elite 5, its like a simpler version of the HDS-5 for those of us that don't need all the bells and whistles. It does have the 5X5 screen though and so far I have been very happy with it. I paid well under $500 for it with a coupon.

I've had a Humminbird for about 3 1/2 years now. It's broken completely once, just after the warranty expired, and cost $75 to fix. Now, a little over a year later, it's crapping out again. I'll not buy another of this brand.
Think I'll go with the Eagle Cuda 350 and see how it does.

Re: Fishfinder/GPS

I'm looking to add a fuel flow meter to my boat, but my current Fish/Depth Finder/ GPS/ Chart Plotter (Humminbird 797c2 SI Combo) is not compatible with a fuel flow meter.

The Humminbird 797c2 SI Combo is an exceptionally nice unit with a lot features, for which I originally paid $999 +tax in the summer of 2008. If you think it would meet your needs and if you're interested I would be willing to part with it for a significant loss. Send me a private message if you're interested.

Any idea where to find info on these? I just sent my LMS 527 in for service and they said they may just send me my money back on it which leaves me on my own if this happens. Wondering what they have coming out?
