I just bought a new Humminbird 798 fishfinder that loses the display as get on plane on my aluminum Tracker that has 2 rows of rivets that span the the width of the boat on the very back edge. I mounted it far away from the prop and about an inch below the bottom of the boat. If I mounted a thin sheet of aluminum to the bottom of the boat just in front of the transducer would the cut down the amount of bubbles from the rivets?

The transducer is mounted too low, for starters.

They might, but the current mounting position is doing so already. Raise it and see how it works. You may then need to work on your thin sheetmetal idea.

Ok thanks. My boat goes between 35 and 38 at wot. Have you heard of Humminbird fishfinders with a si transducer not working at that speed. I just want to know if it is possible to achieve a good reading if everything is installed properly and do you have any other suggestions?
