Is there any kind of fishfinder I can buy that you do not have to drill any holes in the boat to mount the transom?

Re: FishFinder

Lots of ways but need more information.

On fiberglass boats can often use a shoot thru hull tranduscer. Some boats like bass boats have a spot set up for this.

If you have a trolling motor your can mount on your trolling motor.

You can glue a plastic or aluminum plate to the transom and mount your transducer to it.

There are even some mounts that stick on with suction plates but I do not reccomend.

I have a 1993 SeaSwirl, 20 footer, bowrider, that is fiberglass, not really a fishing boat, but enjoy doing some fishing. It has an outboard motor.

I think I would call a SeaSwirl dealer and see if they can tell you if have a area where a shoot thru transducer will work with grinding down thru the mats.

Re: FishFinder

How about some real strong epoxy and fasten it to the transom that way?

Re: FishFinder

Paboater
You could do that but I would not. Do you have a speedometer pitot on the transom now? If you do then you can remove it, put on a piece of 1/2 inch Startboard and attach with same screws only longer to hold in place. Before you mount the starboard put some silcon glue on the back. The silcon will hold the board ok and unlike epoxy should you need to take it off it will not damage the hull. Even if you do not have a pitot tube the starboard will work but use screws to mount the transducer to the starboard.
