I was getting ready to set out this weekend when I noticed a 12' aluminum pass by the dock. I could'nt help but notice that there was 5 people aboard. Well, the boat was sitting a little low in the water, probably only 6" of freeboard on the sides, and the bow.....well you get the idea! Anyway, the bay we were in was well protected and calm from the east wind we had that day, but farther downshore where it opened into the big lake there was a pretty evil chop and caps. I instictively knew where they were heading, across the lake to Sandbanks Provincial Park and the dunes. Anyways, I finally get under way just as they are rounding the point and into the chop. As I came around I started to scan around to see how they were doing. No sooner do I spot them as I see their little boat swamp and roll over. I made a beeline to them and found them splashing about in the water, laughing and having a great time!! I thought later, better that than having everyone panicked and hysterical. I fished them out , bailed out the boat and dragged them back to their departure point (less 3 people in their boat of course) none the worse for wear. Good thing they were all wearing PFD's. (Guess they werent that stupid after all! ). I guess if there is a point to this it's keep your eyes open when out on the water, you just might be a thankful recipient one day of someones responsible actions, even if you're not, or you forget something. Mistakes happen to everyone! :p Cheers
